A great weekend of music making took place at the CIT Cork School of Music on October 10-12 last. There were workshops - classical, jazz and trad, masterclasses, massed flute groups led by leading artists Michael Buckley, Ian Mullin, Sarah Newbold, Eilis O'Sullivan, Katrina Emtage, Johnny McCarthy and Emma Roche and four fantastic concerts over the whole weekend. Launched at the 2006 Cork Flute Weekend, the Cork Flute Society is aimed at the growing number of enthusiastic flautists of all levels: professionals, teachers, students, amateurs, and flute followers throughout Cork and its surrounding area. The society's single mission is to promote the flute, and all styles of flute playing.
